Daily Life at VFS

There is a rhythm to the day at VFS.  We begin each morning with a meeting at 9:30 to review our schedule and share any special announcements with the group. Some kids then break off to take classes, some work on independent studies, some play. We have a mid-day break in programming for lunch.  Our offerings and other opportunities commence in the afternoon. We begin to wrap up our day around 3 with snack and clean up rituals. Our democratic student body votes on whether to include other structural elements in our daily schedule. In the past, All School Meeting participants have voted to reserve parts of the day for project time and screen time. Thanks to our shared enthusiasm for spontaneity, no two days at VFS will ever look quite the same.
